Bio-identical Hormones: Testosterone
Why do women need Testosterone?
Despite testosterone being known as a male sex hormone, women actually need small amounts of testosterone to achieve optimal hormone balance. The aging process causes our testosterone levels to slowly decline, which can result in loss of libido, weight gain, depression, less energy, and increased risk for osteoporosis. Testosterone is made in small amounts by the ovaries and adrenal glands. It is also a precursor to the estrogens, so having abnormal levels of testosterone can lead to other hormone imbalances.
