Joseph Franzese, MD
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago as the oldest of nine, and with having eight younger sisters, I am definitely used to being around a lot of women. I knew early on that I wanted to be a doctor and had physicians in my family to guide me along the way.
I left home and went to college at Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. I immediately fell in love with the campus and ultimately graduated Pre-Med with degrees in Accounting and Finance. I went on to complete a Masters in Biomedical Sciences, studying allergic airway inflammation and asthma, also at Creighton University.
After years of cornfields and snow, I moved to the sunny Caribbean island of Grenada where I attended my first two years of Medical School. While there, I learned how to scuba dive, a hobby that I have continued to this day! From there I moved back to the snow and completed my final two years of medical School in Detroit. There I learned that I loved to be in the operating room, but that I also wanted more of a relationship with my patients. My final rotation was in Obstetrics and Gynecology and I quickly realized that here I could have that long-term relationship with my patients, providing them with excellent medical care both in the office as well as in the operating room.
I moved to Cincinnati in the summer of 2011 and completed a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at TriHealth. After graduation, I went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Gynecologic Surgery at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. There I gained extensive experience in both the routine and the most advanced surgical techniques including office based procedures. This includes advanced vaginal surgery for the treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, hysteroscopic surgery for the treatment of fibroids, and advanced laparoscopy including the use of the daVinci® robotic surgical system.
In 2016 I joined the practice of Amy Brenner, MD & Associates and will work with patients getting to know their history and goals to provide individualized care. Whether it be the functional medicine approach of achieving thyroid optimization, balancing your sex hormones, discovering food allergies or sensitivities – or utilizing my skills in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery for your surgical needs – together we will discuss options and recommendations to create a plan that is right for you while providing exceptional medical care. I am excited to get to know you!
